“mixes witty melodies with tough swing and nasty funk” Time Out

“A feast of styles, from World Music to tasteful brushwork” Rhythm Magazine UK

American drummer/composer Robert Castelli brings his all-star quartet to Hebden Bridge for what will surely be an explosive and exhilarating evening. Robert was born of a musical family in upstate New York and is now based in Vienna where he plays and composes for Musical Theatre.

His band – the Boom Quartet – is touring to promote their second album and has received continual praise in the USA and Canada, receiving this accolade from Allaboutjazz.com “ . . . this is get-down, get-greasy and get-dirty music that’s still delivered with finesse and invention” John Kelman.

The UK version of the band plays his music with the same energy and Gilad Atzmon said of them “Like Weather Report on a good day!” They were particularly well received at last year’s Brecon Jazz Festival.

“…exciting, groovy and funky jazz. The cohesion of this band is exceptional. Castelli is a rhythm machine …” Jos Demol, Jazz’halo & Jazz!Brugge (Belgium)
